OSCAR DEAN {6 WEEKS} ~ BABY JACKPOT

"Feed me Mama!"
It seems like Oscar has changed and grown so much in the last two weeks! We hit the baby jackpot with this one...He has been so easy! For the last week he has been sleeping for 6 hours straight at night. Seriously. I'm probably jinxing myself by writing this, but it goes something like this: Bed at 10, up at 4 and then back to sleep till morning sometime or bed at 9, up at 1, back to sleep and up at 7 and then back to sleep for a couple more hours. Basically, we're getting really good sleep. Jackpot. (knock on wood).

How is it the babies know when you're going to sit down and eat supper? They must have a sixth sense.

Oscar's fussy time is in the evening after supper...seems like he just wants to eat and eat and eat. He's pretty social between 8 and 10 pm.
Speaking of social, he started talking! He'll be reading next. :) Just kidding. No really....he's started making all kinds of noises and saying "Ah-goo" :) It's amazing all the the things that change in just a week or two!

He's growing out of his 3 month clothes...He's been wearing 6 month clothes for a couple of days. I think his diapers are getting a tad small too...moving up to 3's for the next box I think.

So, where there's a baby, there's poop. If you're wondering why Oscar is sitting on a changing pad in his picture....it's because he has just had his first poop in 9 days and it was a doozy. We weren't taking any chances! We had been waiting and waiting for him to fill his diaper. Excitement. After rubbing his tummy and pumping his legs for a couple of days, he finally went. He was sitting on my lap and did his first little business. I grabbed the changing pad (mama instinct maybe?) and put it under him, still on my lap. He did some more business and then I laid him down to change him. He was covered in poop. All the way up his back and out his leg holes. Lets just say it all ended with a bath. I even scrubbed it out of his armpits. Fun times. I hope it doesn't happen again in the middle of the night.
Ava was quite concerned for her little brother. "Mama! His poop looks like the color of pumpkin skin! Does he have a tummy ache?Is he going to be ok, like for the rest of his life!?!"

OSCAR'S FIRST SMILE

Oscar smiled on purpose for the first time on Thursday May, 15th, just before 5 weeks old. Ava was the lucky girl to who got to see it.
At 4:30 am he smiled at me for the first time. Being up in the middle of the night was totally worth it. How is it that a smile can change everything?
He really liked the stroller on our walk yesterday. I would count this as a smile. :)

LUNCH DATES

I just love my kids. It's been a busy week so far and they're holding up well. Today was Oscar's one month check up and then a stop for lunch at our favorite place. Lunch is so enjoyable when babies don't cry, no one poops their diaper, water isn't spilled, everyone eats and everyone's happy. Today was one of those days. :)

SISTERS

She used to wonder when her little sister would be big enough to play with her.

TUMMY TIME!

4 1/2 weeks
Two peas in a pod.

AVA'S FIRST SWIMMING LESSON

I finally found a place to get Ava signed up for swimming lessons! She was super excited to start but I was a little bit curious as to how that first time would go...she hates to get her face wet.
On the day of her first lesson, it was 65 degree, cloudy and windy. She was a trooper! Got right in the pool and did everything the teacher asked her to do! She didn't really like blowing bubbles but she gave it a try (and then gagged and coughed and shook her head like a dog.) :)
"Don't you have any pink pool noodles?"

WITH WONDER AND AMAZEMENT.....

...I watch our kids grow up and experience life. What a privilege to guide these little people through their first years.
It seems like there has been so much going on lately! A week ago, we spent the day in Houston and went to the aquarium, the Water Wall and Ikea. It was a big day.
This past weekend, Ava spent her first weekend at a friends house. She had so much fun and we enjoyed the peace and quiet! She sure is growing up.
Thanks to Mom's initiative, we're now brewing our own kombucha! Can't wait to try our first batch this next week!
Jaina says more than I can even record now. It's awesome. "June bug come here again. Me scared." She loves boats, fish, going in the car, singing songs with mommy, bubble baths....She also got her first 2 year molar last month.
Ava starts swimming lessons tomorrow...I wonder how it will go?
Today is my only free day this week...no wonder I'm still in my jammies....
We're trying something new in this house....We're doing the 30 day smoothie challenge for breakfast every morning (and lunch if there's extra) and the Dinner Decider app is my new best friend.
Both of us are feeling a little "ugh" so I'm hoping that this will help. This morning's smoothie was pineapple, lettuce, cilantro, lime and coconut water. Meal planning has been a long time coming around here...I love the Dinner Decider because it gives 5 recipes for the week and they actually look quite good! It makes shopping for groceries easy and takes the stress out of "what's for dinner?" I think it'll save us some grocery $$ too which is always a good thing. :)
Warmer weather is upon us...

GRANDPA WALDO COMES TO TEXAS!

We were thrilled to have Grandpa Waldo come and visit us. The kids were so excited! Grandpa thought he was getting a little vacation but I think I got the better end of the deal! :) Donald and Grandpa took the girls to go and do some things like visit Pecan Grove and tour Huntsville and I got to stay home, relax, enjoy the peace and quiet and snuggle with Baby Oscar. It was great! We went out to eat a whole bunch, went for a boat ride, visited, went to the San Jacinto Monument, visited some more and had a wonderful time. Thanks for coming to see us Grandpa! Please come again soon!
